Kat

Owner and trainer at The Furry Nation has been working with dogs professionally for over ten years.  As a CPDT certified Dog Trainer, Kat knows the benefits of humane kind treatment to animals. Her focus on treating the whole dog, physically and mentally, has helped many dogs find new permanent homes or remain in their home instead of being relinquished to shelters and rescues.  As Kat worked with dogs over the years, she realized how many needed help not only with training, but with health care as well.  She realized that many products out there are the cause of disease in our pets. Once Kat began treating these problems, many behavioral issues disappeared as well.

"It just makes sense.  Think of when you are sick, have a headache, your skin itches.  You can't focus on work.  You're cranky.  It's all the same with our pets too.  They need to be healthy before they even begin to learn manners and house rules."

With her passion for animals Kat designed a store that first and foremost cares for the needs of our pets.  She then coupled her love of animals with her concerns for our fragile global ecology, and began hand picking sustainable and local/nationally focused products.

We foresee The Furry Nation as being the next step in the "Natural" Pet Store revolution.  A store that strives to bring light and respect to the entire process of consumerism, from farm land to household product and create a recycled circle whenever possible in the system.

Bridget

Bridget came to The Furry Nation in April 2009 as soon became Manager of the store.  As everyone says  " it all stared with one special pet..... and for Bridget that was Brody Baggins, her lab mix. This is where Bridget's love for the animals prospered into a career. It's been 4 years since Brody came to her and her goal of helping make our pets healthier through good nutrition is realized daily at The Furry.  She loves teaching other how to treat the whole animal rather than the symptoms.  Bridget lives with 3 boys and 32 paws. Some of these paws are fosters looking for their new forever home as Bridget is active with local rescues and is has been certified in the Pet-Tech course which is Animal CPR and emergency care.

Wyatt

Wyatt is a 2 yr. old Beagle/Shih tzu mix who actually thinks he's part Husky. He enjoys coming to the store with mom daily. He was adopted through a local rescue and  had 2 eye surgeries before he was 10 weeks old but there's no stopping him. Wyatt will ALWAYS get up to say hello and he really loves to hug all the dogs that visit The Furry Nation. This is why we call him "the little player".

Wyatt loves playing with his girlfriend Dahlia, killing every squeaker toy he can find, and most importantly irritating  Kayla. His favorite spot at the store is in Kayla crate right on her bed.

At the end of the day Wyatt has to be carried out because he hates to leave the store EVER.

Kayla

Kayla: As matriarch of the family Kayla, a ten year old Siberian Husky works hard at not working.  She takes pride at having to consume her day with lying in her crate or switching to naps on the
rug in front of the fish tanks.  Her tastes are picky and often she won't get up to greet you, but don't be offended, she often times doesn't say thank you to her mother either.

Likes: Beef Trachea, Evo Duck cans, Duck and Salmon Tripe and Dogswell Vitality

Dislikes: Bouncing dogs in her store, brushing her teeth, and days she doesn't gets lots of walks

Dahlia

Dahlia came to Kat by way of A North Carlina Siberian Husky Rescue.  Originally believed to be all Husky she's now nicknamed a Pocket Husky as clearly her fly by night daddy wasn't all husky....  Dahlia adds crazy and spunk to life at the store.  She is striving hard to learn new behaviors each day and with the help of her mom and older sister is becoming a confident young lady.  Don't take offense if she chooses not to say hello.  She has learned to control her fear of people by hiding in her crate.  We all need our alone time!

Likes: throw the ball, throw the ball, throw the ball, zuke's cranberry bones, Free Range Duck and Sweet Potato treats, tearing up A cheerful pet woolzee toys, and sitting on mom's lap.

Dislikes: Jumping children, nail clipping, and loud noises

A revolutionary pet store that's geared to helping you care for and treat your pet's health and wellness the way nature intended.
